MASTERCLASS w/ Dr. Kristamarie Collman - Preventative strategies for Obesity & Diabetes: What Black Women Should Know

By Health in Her HUE

In the United States Black women have the highest obesity rate compared to other groups. 4/5 Black women are overweight or obese, according to a 2012 study by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Some things are in our control, and unfortunately, some things aren't.
There are psychological and social factors that have an impact on obesity. Women who report more experiences of racism have been shown to be more likely to become obese. Women who live in under resourced neighborhoods—where grocery stores are scarce, parks and sidewalks aren’t maintained, or crime is rampant—are often more likely to gain weight or be obese.
Health In Her HUE will be hosting a live Masterclass with Dr. Kristamarie Collman, a board certified Family Medicine doctor, specializing in preventative health, nutrition and weight management.
Here’s what we’ll be covering (in addition to the questions you’ll bring):
  • Preventative strategies for diabetes and obesity
  • The role that COVID-19 may have with diabetes & obesity
Don’t miss out on this HIHH exclusive event!
