ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
Black Lives in Alaska: Justice, Journey, Joy. Generations before statehood and earlier even than the Klondike gold rushof the 1890s, Black men and women arrived in Alaska and have since participatedin politics, economic development and culture. They patrolled the seas, builtthe roads, served in the military and public life, opened businesses, foughtinjustice, created art and forged communities. This exhibition, told througharchival photos and collected materials, showcases the richness and resilienceof Black lives in Alaska.
