Jesse McCarthy: Who Will Pay Reparations on My Soul?

By TPLCulture

Jesse McCarthy is an author and associate professor of English and African American studies at Harvard University, whose work has appeared in several publications including The New York Times, n+1, and the New Republic.
In his debut book of essays Who Will Pay Reparations on My Soul?, McCarthy experiments with style and form to define Black art, music and literature from the 21st century as reflecting pools for themes of inequality, identity and representation. Critical and timely, this book reminds the reader that Black traditions have, and always will be, acts of resistance and social activism. Jesse McCarthy is joined by writer, curator, and public programmer Rea McNamara to discuss Who Will Pay Reparations on My Soul?
