***Time change: This program will now start at 3 pm instead of 2 pm. We apologize for any inconvenience.***
Wilson's Warbler, American Woodcock, Canada Goose, Cooper's Hawk - who named these birds and what do the names mean? In this talk, we explore how the Anishinaabe people name and understand birds. This talk provides a glimpse to the Anishinaabe language and the messages within it that express the connections around all of us. Presented by Joseph Pitawanakwat, a holistic health and plant educator and member of the Wikiwemikong First Nation. Joseph will be in conversation with Andrés Jiménez, TPL's Environmentalist in Residence (EnvIR) to discuss decolonizing the way we understand and study birds, genuine ways to acknowledge the land and the world around us.
This virtual presentation is the Live & Online version of Toronto Public Library's Our Fragile Planet program series.
This program will be presented with live captioning.
