Max Wallace: After the Miracle

By TPLCulture

Historian and New York Times bestselling author of In the Name of Humanity: The Secret Deal to End the Holocaust and The American Axis: Henry Ford, Charles Lindbergh, and the Rise of the Third Reich Max Wallace joins us to share his newest book After the Miracle: The Political Crusades of Helen Keller about her unknown and lifelong fight for social justice across gender, class, race, and ability.
Popular portrayals of Keller's life have leaned heavily on her struggles as a child living with a disability and many focused mainly on her teacher, Annie Sullivan, as a miracle worker. But few discuss or are even aware that her greatest accomplishment was not learning to speak, but what she did with her voice when she found it.
Max Wallace talks to author and journalist Janet Somerville about After the Miracle, the much-needed and thorough retelling of one of the 20th century’s most extraordinary figures.
