Tagging Trash in Lake Ontario: Meet the U of T Trash Team

Have you seen the special orange water bottles floating around the Toronto Harbour? The University of Toronto Trash Team launched their GPS-tracked water bottles into the harbour to study where trash ends up along our waterfront and lake. This helps to find better solutions to our litter problem.
Learn about their Fighting Floatables initiative that examines the sources and fate of litter accumulation along the waterfront, how litter moves along the waterfront and in the harbour, and how these questions will help us inform policies aimed at providing solutions upstream and downstream.
Presented by Cassandra Sherlock, the Community Outreach and Research Specialist from U of T Trash Team and previously a research assistant in microplastic research at Chelsea Rochman's lab.
This virtual presentation is the Live & Online version of Toronto Public Library's Our Fragile Planet program series, supported by TD Friends of the Environment (TD FEF).
