Imagining Climates: Writing About The Past, Present & Future of The Environment

By TPL Programs

Presented by the Guelph Institue for Environmental Research (GIER), Imagining Climates is a multidisciplinary collaborative and creative response to the climate crisis, exploring the role of imagination in understanding our world today and creating the world of tomorrow. Professor of Ecology at the University of Guelph, poet and Director of GIER, Dr. Madhur Anand will discuss with professor, author and GIER affiliate researcher Lawrence Hill how their writing engages with issues relating to the environment, climate change, and social justice. Imagining Climates brings together diverse practices, perspectives and cultures to explore how we might individually and collectively give voice to our relationship to the Earth, other life forms and each other, working through ecological loss, shame and grief to re-vision possible futures, communities and pleasures. In order to create a future that is brighter than our present, we must first imagine it.
This virtual presentation is the Live & Online version of Toronto Public Library's Our Fragile Planet program series, supported by TD Friends of the Environment (TD FEF).
