The PIE Webinar - The changing landscape of English-taught programmes 2021

By The PIE

"The impact of English-Taught Programmes in non-anglophone countries cannot be underestimated."
A major report published by the British Council and Studyportals, charts dramatic shifts in the provision of English-taught programmes (ETPS) outside the major anglophone countries.
Surprisingly, it reveals that nearly 20% of ETPS globally are now delivered outside the big four (UK, US, Australia and Canada). What’s more, 77% of the growth in provision of ETPs over the last five years has also been outside the big four, spearheaded by EHEA, China and sub-Saharan Africa.
Coupled with the twin effects of ambitious new international student targets in some non-anglophone countries – China already has nearly as many international students attending HEIs as the UK – and the pandemic hangover of students preferring to study closer to home, this comprehensive study describes seismic shifts in the landscape of English-taught programmes.
In this webinar we will explore those shifts in detail; what underlies them? And what implications these shifts point to, for providers and suppliers in all markets. As the big four jockey for position all over again, should they also be looking further over their shoulders? And what types of learner do these new ETPs in non-anglophone countries cater for?
We explore the huge growth in ETPs in EHEA, China and Africa and the concomitant implications for traditional anglophone providers.
