Dojo: Real-World Package Design with Jane Moon
By TypeEd
The Typography Dojo is a place where we come together to explore the techniques in the practice of type and typography with training from design Sensei. Join us to learn from the masters.
Organizations like the FDA have rules on what type and size of information need to be on packaging. As designers, how do we deal with all of those legal requirements while trying to design something that we’re proud of? Although it can be frustrating when legal experts tell us how to design, Jane believes it’s our responsibility as problem-solvers to design every part of a packaging with thought and integrity. She will share some insights on what she’s done at Drybar to achieve the balance between well-set typography, regulatory requirements, and the brand’s visual style.
Jane Moon Director of Design, Product, at Drybar As a child, she was obsessed with drawing letters and folding paper, and now she gets to do that at a slightly more professional level where she is the Design Director of Product responsible for the product packaging, product design, and visual merchandising at Drybar. She holds a BFA in Graphic Design from Art Center College of Design and has previously designed for WET, INK, Cisco Linksys, Vizio, Chapman University, Freedom & Fashion, Avery Products, and Target.
