‘Tis the season to celebrate horror novels with the Women's National Book Association. Authors Erika T. Wurth (White Horse) and V. Castro (Mestiza Blood) will discuss with Rachel Dempsey their work and how they craft a haunting story.
About the Authors
V. Castro is a two-time Bram Stoker Award-nominated Mexican American writer from San Antonio, Texas, now residing in the UK. As a full-time mother, she dedicates her time to her family and writing Latinx narratives in horror, erotic horror, and science fiction. Her most recent releases include Mestiza Blood and The Queen of the Cicadas from Flame Tree Press and Goddess of Filth from Creature Publishing. Erika T. Wurth’s literary-horror novel White Horse is with Flatiron/Macmillan. Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in numerous journals including Buzzfeed, Boulevard, Lithub, The Writer’s Chronicle, and The Kenyon Review. She is a Kenyon and Sewanee fellow, and a narrative artist for the Meow Wolf Denver installation. She is represented by Rebecca Friedman (books) and Dana Spector, CAA (film). She is an urban Native of Apache/Chickasaw/Cherokee descent and was raised outside of Denver, where she lives with her partner, her two stepchildren, and her extremely fluffy dogs.
Rachel Horak Dempsey has written and directed more than a dozen plays for numerous acclaimed theater organizations such as Imagination Stage and ArtStream. She holds a BFA in Drama and English from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and a master’s degree in Journalism from Georgetown University. Her short horror fiction appears or is forthcoming in anthologies by Shacklebound Books, Brigids Gate Press, and Timber Ghost. Currently, she lives in Denver with her husband and three daughters and attends the MFA program at Regis University.
