Drawing Class: How to Draw Nature
By Draw Like An Architect
In this class we will start with the fundamentals of architectural drawing with all the linetypes, lineweights, textures and hatches you need to draw nature.
Then we will cover how to draw a load of trees, plants, shrubs and flowers so you have a big toolkit of vegetation to draw on in future sketches. Finally we will do a large drawing of a famous building surrounded by heaps of vegetation to put what you've learnt to practice!
You will need:
- Pencil
- Plain paper
- Black fineliner
- Black marker (optional)
You will receive the class slides by email afterwards so you can continue to practice at home!
A little bit about me...
I’m Philip Buckingham and I am an architecturally trained illustrator with over 10 years industry experience.
I started the Draw Like An Architect project to offer the teaching I wish I had had during my architectural education. Freehand drawing is an invaluable skill whether you are presenting to a client, communicating to your colleague or trying to impress your tutor. However, it is overlooked at most architecture schools.
Based in London, I am a founding Director of 5HT, a multidisciplinary design studio specialising in architecture, interiors and products. I am a member of the Society of Architectural Illustration and my work has been exhibited internationally with work featured in The Architectural Review, Architecture Today and the RIBA Journal.
