VIRTUAL LAUNCH for Mirror Girls by KELLY MCWILLIAMS

By Books of Wonder

As infants, twin sisters Charlie Yates and Magnolia Heathwood were secretly separated after the brutal lynching of their parents, who died for loving across the color line. Now, at the dawn of the Civil Rights Movement, Charlie is a young Black organizer in Harlem, while white-presenting Magnolia is the heiress to a cotton plantation in rural Georgia.
When the sisters are unexpectedly reunited after the death of their grandmother, they must combine forces to free Magnolia from a terrible curse that's haunted her ever since she discovered the truth about her heritage. Even though Magnolia and Charlie couldn’t be more different, they will need each other to put the hauntings of the past to rest, to break the deadly curse — and to discover the meaning of sisterhood in a racially divided land.
This event will feature KELLY MCWILLIAMS, author of Mirror Girls, in conversation with BRANDY COLBERT, author of the recently released Black Birds in the Sky — an unflinching, unforgettable YA non-fiction account of the horrific 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre.
