Meet the 2023 Best Ethical Financial Adviser Award Winners

By Mindful Money

The Mindful Money Award for Best Ethical Financial Adviser celebrates the people that lead the way in helping others to invest in positive social environmental benefits and in climate action.
Join Mindful Money CEO and Founder Barry Coates in conversation with two of this years winners, Carey Church, Financial Adviser and Managing Director at Moneyworks and Peter Lee, Director and Financial Planner at Ethical Investing NZ.
Carey Church has been a financial adviser for over 27 years, working with her 3 colleagues (plus their in-house robot Millie), at Moneyworks. Using the in-house unique ethical investment analysis, Moneyworks have supplemented the financial planning services that clients engage their advisers for, with a strong ethical investment overlay.
The Mindful Money award judges were impressed by the depth of research and analysis applied to client and investment processes. Carey Church and the Money works team have developed tools and systems to verify the policies and practices of different investment options. The commitment of Moneyworks to ethical investing was evident and supported by their recent B-Corps certification.
Peter Lee founded Ethical Investing NZ in late 2014 after many years in the corporate world. Previous roles include CEO of the Institute of Financial Advisers and head of advice support at ANZ Wealth. With a focus on highly personal ongoing advice based on ethical investing, the firm now has 7 staff, and in 2020 became the first NZ advisory business to gain RIAA certification.
The judges were impressed by the way that Ethical Investing NZ has developed strong processes to get to know their clients’ ethical preferences. This includes a holistic approach to defining long term goals and values, encompassing family and community relationships. They provide a high standard of transparency so that clients are given full information about costs at the start of engagements.
We invite you to participate in this discussion by using the Ask a Question button during the seminar, we will ensure there is time left at the end to pose your questions to our winners.
