Stephen Marche, novelist and culture writer for The Atlantic, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The New Yorker, and pretty much everywhere else, joins us to talk about his latest book, The Next Civil War, a thoroughly researched work of speculative nonfiction that takes a deeply divided America and imagines five chilling scenarios that lead to its collapse. Drawing upon sophisticated predictive models and nearly two hundred interviews with experts—military leaders, law enforcement officials, agriculture specialists, environmentalists, war historians, and political scientists—journalist Stephen Marche predicts the terrifying future collapse that so many of us do not want to see unfolding before our eyes.
