Festival of Ideas: Michael E Mann, How Can We Save the Planet?

By Bristol Ideas

Renowned scientist Michael E Mann argues that all is not lost as he outlines a plan to save the planet.
Recycle. Fly less. Eat less meat. These are some of the ways that we’ve been told we can avert the worsening climate crisis. But are we really the ones most at fault?
Seventy-one per cent of global emissions come from the same 100 companies, but instead of taking responsibility they have instead waged a 30-year campaign to criticise the actions of individuals. The result has been disastrous for our planet.
Mann has been on the front lines of the climate debate for decades. He now draws the battle lines between the people and the polluters – fossil-fuel companies, right-wing plutocrats, and petro-states – and explains how we can force governments and corporations to wake up and make real change.
In conversation with Alix Dietzel, University of Bristol.
