Design Principles for Systems Change: Humanity-Centered

By Armillaria

Human-centered design as a process is considered sacrosanct in the business of change. Yet focusing on what’s best for individuals does not necessarily result in better social outcomes, as history has shown, with many of the largest technology companies vocally using human centered design to develop extractive technologies. Focusing on what’s best for the thriving of people and planet provides an opportunity to serve everyone equally, transcending cultural, organisational, and political boundaries.
Join us for a lively discussion with leading systems thinkers, designers, and activists on the subject, as we contemplate how best to design and implement society-scale interventions that consider not just the wellbeing of the individual, but humanity at large.
Note: We will hold the discussion open for 1.5 hours, for anyone who wants to stay past the 1 hour mark for ongoing Q&A.
Guests:
Roxann Stafford: With a background in mechanical engineering, business, and psychology, Roxann brings together the worlds of social impact, entrepreneurship and design thinking.
Mike Zuckerman: Referred to as a culture hacker, space activator, applied geographer, creative activist, tactical urbanist, and a new humanitarian; Mike aspires to be a comprehensive anticipatory design scientist turning his attention to the growing challenge of displaced peoples.
Cecilia Scolaro: A 'responsible designer', Cecilia applies sustainable, respectful and equitable principles to the design of businesses, products and services.
Host:
Madelynn Martiniere: Managing Partner, Platform & Partnerships, Armillaria
