How to use VR for healthcare education
By Warp VR
In this new webinar series with CreatorUp, we take a look at outstanding uses of VR technology and how it helps to change lives for the better. We kick off the first episode with an extraordinary journey into the realm of healthcare innovation.
Virtual reality is quickly gaining popularity and making an impact in healthcare. Immersive training experiences accurately replicate real world work scenarios in a risk-free environment, allowing healthcare professionals to learn to better serve their patients in a more efficient way.
Learning experiences can be repeated and specific tasks practiced numerous times to develop skills to the highest standards. Performance can be evaluated through the collection of key data, such as time taken to complete tasks and errors made.
We recently had the privilege of interviewing a true visionary in this field about a project for dementia caregivers: Dr. Julia Scott, director of the Brain and Memory Care Lab at Santa Clara University, and Medical Council Lead for XRSI (X Reality Safety Intelligence).
Participants go through several simulations of real-life scenarios where a person with Alzheimer's becomes agitated, confused, or aggressive. These simulations use 360° video for the most realistic effect. Participants then decide how to respond to experience the different outcomes.
This helps them to manage the challenging aspects of care, such as de-escalating agitation, redirecting repetitive thoughts, and calming a person’s confusion. Another challenge that the project aims to solve is training at scale, as one of its ambitions is to train 50 million caregivers.
Join us August 23 at 4PM CEST to learn more about the future of healthcare and the power of virtual reality. We’ll cover the following topics:
- The benefits of VR training for healthcare training.
- When to use 360° video or animation?
- How Santa Clara University identified the need for VR training, what challenges they faced, and what impact it delivered.
- How to create engaging and effective VR training content, and measure the success of VR training programs.
