HOW TO BE A GUARDIAN OF YOUR OWN BODY: EMBODYING BODY SOVEREIGNTY AND BOUNDARIES THROUGH MOVEMENT, MEDITATION, AND CREATIVE VISUALIZATION

This webinar is open to all humans at all levels and experiences.
What does it mean to be sovereign in your own body when the government does not believe you have the basic human right to have agency over your own choices--such as your own reproductive function?
How can we possibly feel present and safe in our own bodies when we are consistently inundated with news about the never-ending threats to our basic sense of safety happening on all levels of society: gun violence, the ongoing global pandemic, climate change, police brutality, increase in hate crimes, economic collapse, and the recent overturn of Roe V. Wade that leaves countless people with ovaries in precarious, dangerous, life-threatening situations?
We must do what we can to fight for our basic rights, keep growing our collective visions of radical wellbeing, and protect and uplift those in need, especially the most marginalized and economically underprivileged among us.
Additionally, for our own wellbeing and energetic sustainability, we must do what we can to feel present and safe and connected in our own bodies.
We deserve to protect our own personal boundaries. We deserve to unlearn the body hatred imposed upon us from various oppressive structures. We deserve to fully and fiercely love ourselves and the sacred physical vessels that carry us, especially now.
To quote our co-facilitator Janet Lo: "how do you defend your body if you don't know how to love it?"
This 2.5 hour workshop will lead you through guided meditation, journaling prompts, open-ended movement exercises, and creative visualizations that will offer tools, resources, and inspiration for (re)connecting with your body during oppressively turbulent times, inviting in tenderness and self-love and protective boundaries for your body in the current reality of ongoing violence and conflict and erosion of basic civil liberties, and calling in new collective visions for the world we desire to live in for ourselves, our communities, and the planet at large.
This workshop also serves as a space for you and likeminded individuals to process uncomfortable, heavy emotions in reaction to recent news through movement. Whatever emotions you may be carrying in your body, if you've been holding them in, we invite you to move through them in community.
A portion of the proceeds from this online webinar will be donated towards abortion funds.
Come prepared to the webinar with writing utensils, an open mind, comfortable clothing, and ideally a safe and private space where you can meditate in silence and also move your body around freely.
Please also know that once you register for the event, you have unlimited replay access to this webinar, and this applies for both people who can attend the live event at the actual time and people who cannot make it to the exact 2.5-hour time frame.
