“Hacking Bad Permissions" - Super Cyber Friday

By CISO Series

Please join us on Friday, July 28th, 2023 for Super Cyber Friday.
Our topic of discussion will be “Hacking Bad Permissions: An hour of critical thinking about the domino effect of unknown access settings.”
We’re setting up an awesome show with your host David Spark (@dspark), producer of CISO Series. Joining us will be:
  • Tarek Khaled, founding sales engineer, Veza
  • David Tyburski, vp of information security and CISO, Wynn Resorts
In preparation for our discussion, think about the following:
  • How do misconfigurations of permissions happen? What’s the source of the problem?
  • How well do we know how permissions translate to access to applications, data, and files?
  • Is the business playing fast and loose and the CISO has to pick up the pieces, or be on the line when permissions get out of control?
  • We know to limit permissions to control the blast radius, but what do you do when the breach happens? How do we investigate what the blast radius could be and stop it?
  • What can the CISO do to make sure that you adopt new technologies at the pace the business wants but doesn’t create massive vulnerability.
  • Misconfigurations are going to happen. Like the acceptance of eventually being breached. How do we operate knowing that misconfigurations are inevitable?
  • How do you manage audits? Do you know who has access to PII?
It all starts at 1 PM Eastern/10 AM Pacific. At the end of the hour [2 PM Eastern/11 AM Pacific] we'll switch gears to our meetup where everyone will get a chance to chat face to face.
HUGE thanks to our sponsor Veza.

Super Cyber Fridays are open discussions where all viewers and listeners are welcome to become participants. Before the scheduled event, connect your webcam and microphone (avoid Bluetooth) and test your equipment here. During the discussion, if you have a question or comment, let it be known in the chat room and our producer will do his best to get as many of you into the conversation. We look forward to you joining us.
