In 2017, filmmakers Steve Borst, Rennie Soga and Chris Panizzon set off to make a film about universal basic income. Over the 3 years of principle shooting, they documented stories across the south, highlighting the current impact of our economic systems on people from small town Celina, Tennessee to Jackson, Mississippi and highlight the power of monthly cash via the Magnolia Mother’s Trust guaranteed income demonstration. Panelists:
Rennie Soga is the producer of INHERENT GOOD and founder of GEIST PRODUCTIONS. She is an activist and champion of storytelling focused on narrative and culture change work. She is the story producer for the upcoming season of the MORE THAN ENOUGH podcast – a project of Springboard to Opportunities. In a previous life, Rennie spent over 15 years working in the tech and finance industry.
Steve Borst is the Director of INHERENT GOOD, a film exploring the power of unconditional cash. He is also an Emmy-nominated writer working in kids television. He served as Creator/Executive Producer/Story Editor of Nickelodeon’s BREADWINNERS for two seasons. He has also written over 50 episodes of Cartoon Network’s TEEN TITANS GO!
Trae Crowder gained national attention for his “Liberal Redneck” series of viral videos, Trae has been performing his particular brand of Southern-fried intellectual comedy in the Southeast and beyond for the past six years. Trae’s videos have received over 70 million views online. He is coming off an 80+ city sold-out standup comedy tour in support of his best-selling book Liberal Redneck Manifesto: Draggin Dixie Outta the Dark.
