Extra Tough Artist Spotlight: Linda Infante Lyons + Alison Bremner

Join us for a series of virtual talks/Q&A sessions with artists featured in the Extra Tough: Women of the North exhibition. Artists explore their own practice in relationship to feminism and issues affecting women in the North. This week’s First Friday session features Linda Infante Lyons and Alison Bremner. Linda Infante Lyons is a visual artist from Anchorage, Alaska. Her family is of Alutiiq/Sugpiaq Alaska Native heritage from Kodiak Island. She earned a bachelor of arts degree at Whitman College in Washington state and studied art at the Viňa del Mar Fine Arts School in Chile. She has been exhibiting her work for over 18 years.
Alison Bremner is a Tlingit artist born and raised in Southeast Alaska. Bremner is believed to be the first Tlingit woman to carve and raise a totem pole. She has studied under master artists David R. Boxley and David A. Boxley in Kingston, Washington. She works in the mediums of paint, wood and digital collage. In addition to her contemporary art practice, Bremner is committed to the revitalization of the Tlingit language and creating works for traditional and ceremonial use.
