Dojo: Working with Peers & Learning to Say “No” with Delve Withrington
By TypeEd
The Typography Dojo is a place where we come together to explore the kata (techniques) in the practice of type and typography with training from design Sensei. Join us to learn from the masters.
What is it like to design with your peers? The common thread in most of Delve’s work over the past ten years is collaboration. Whether the project is for clients, retail typeface releases, or side projects, he places value on and seeks out opportunities to collaborate. Delve will discuss how that approach has led to some triumphs in each of those areas and a few failures that he has learned from.
Delve Withrington has crafted fonts for 20+ years, is a former type designer for FontShop and Monotype and attended SCAD in the pre-internet era of floppy disks and grunge. Delve creates bespoke type on commission and publishes new type through his foundry, Delve Fonts. He is a member of the Letterform Archive, Type Directors Club, a TypeCon devotee (and former SOTA board officer). He enjoys painting, sci-fi, cooking, and a well-timed pun. Delve lives with his family in Alameda, California.
