Holi is a special festival of colors in the country of India. Apart from being a fun and lively celebration, it has a substantial cultural and traditional significance. Let’s explore the legends and stories of this popular Indian holiday and create an art project signifying its importance, in Madhubani style. A small number of supplies kits will be available. Visit epls.org/kits to reserve one starting on February 17. See list below for supplies - you do not need a kit to participate.
Deepti Agrawal Mittal, artist and an educator, is a specialist of Madhubani Painting and has been practicing it since 1992. Deepti has been closely working with the state and city art councils to conduct workshops, demos and exhibitions on an on-going basis. She is the president of Friends of Asian Art Association, a nonprofit organization, and a speaker on Humanities Washington Speaker Bureau program.
