How green is your cloud? Tools for reducing your cloud carbon footprint
By Green Tech South West
Green Tech South West will welcome Dan Lewis-Toakley, Green Cloud Lead for ThoughtWorks North America to talk about understanding, measuring and reducing the energy and carbon emissions of public cloud use.
Dan will breakdown how to look at this problem, as well as how we can approach calculating and reducing these emissions. He will also explore existing tools in the space, and introduce a new open source tool ThoughtWorks has launched called Cloud Carbon Footprint.
The talk is for anyone interested in learning how:
- To use tools to measure the energy and carbon footprint of data-centers and the cloud
- To evaluate cloud providers on their environmental sustainability
- Development teams can include sustainability and carbon emissions in decision making
- We can optimize our cloud usage to reduce energy and carbon emissions
- To contribute to open source tools in the space
