One Book Conversation: Routt County's Climate Action Plan
By Bud Werner Memorial Library
Bud Werner Memorial Library in Steamboat Springs, Colorado invites you to learn about the Routt County Climate Action Plan and what difference can we make as a community. This is an enrichment program surrounding our ONE BOOK STEAMBOAT community read of Kim Stanley Robinson's The Ministry for the Future.
Routt County Environmental Health Director Scott Cowman leads a community presentation and conversation about the Routt County Climate Action Plan. He'll walk us from the local Greenhouse Gas Study to development of the Climate Action Plan, to creation of the Collaborative Board and Work Groups, leading to a discussion about plan implementation and how people can get involved through strategic actions that make a difference.
Routt County’s Climate Action Plan is an actionable document that will guide our community towards implementing climate action solutions to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and enhance our community’s overall quality of life and long-term resiliency. The strategies within the Climate Action Plan have been divided into six sectors: Energy, Transportation, Land Use, Waste, Accountability, and Economics. The plan was recently finalized, and the strategies and actions included in it, if implemented successfully, are likely to lead to a 74% reduction in community greenhouse gas emissions by the year 2050.
