Baseball & Race: Past, Present, & Future

Join us for a discussion of race and racism in America's pastime: baseball. Panelists Louis Moore, Sridhar Pappu and C. Trent Rosecrans examine the history of integration, current issues, and what the future may look like for the sport.
Louis Moore is an Associate Professor of History at Grand Valley State University. He teaches African American History, Civil Rights, Sports History, and US History. He is the author of I Fight for a Living: Boxing and the Battle for Black Manhood, 1880-1915; and We Will Win the Day: The Civil Rights Movement, the Black Athlete, and the Quest for Equality. He co-hosts the podcast The Black Athlete with Derrick White, and has also written for a number of online outlets including The Shadow League, Vox, and African American Intellectual Historical Society, and has appeared on news outlets including NPR, MSNBC, and BBC Sports talking sports and race.
Sridhar Pappu is the author of The Year of the Pitcher: Bob Gibson, Denny McLain, and the End of Baseball’s Golden Age. He is a correspondent for The Atlantic, and has been a staff writer for Sports Illustrated and The Washington Post.
C. Trent Rosecrans is a senior writer for The Athletic covering the Cincinnati Reds. He previously covered the Reds for the Cincinnati Enquirer and the Cincinnati Post and has also covered Major League Baseball for CBSSports.com.
