Let 'Em Hear You, Let 'Em See You!

By Dare to Write

A guide to taking your writing on to audio and video platforms with just your mobile.
This online workshop, run by BBC Upload presenter Adam Crowther, will help you turn written pieces into video and audio using just a mobile phone. You might want your writing to reach a larger audience using audio or video on social media, or perhaps you want to write specifically for those media? Whatever your motivation, this workshop will introduce you to the skills you’ll need to turn your mobile phone into an audio-visual content creation studio.

Paper Nations is running this workshop with BBC Upload as part of The Great Margin, a project which seeks to amplify the voices of people on the margins of the writing world. We are gathering and sharing pieces from writers with a focus on experiences of writing, reading, and living during a time of isolation.
Writers who submit to The Great Margin showcasing blog or Twitter feed can present their work in audio and video formats as well as in simple text. That’s why we’re offering you this workshop - we want to give you the skills you need to bring your writing to life for the ear and the eye!
Working with BBC Upload, entries to The Great Margin Showcase which are selected as our ‘Pick of the Month’ will be submitted to their national network of Upload radio programmes. The BBC will then consider showcasing these pieces on local radio and/or digital platforms. BBC Upload are also working with The British Library on their archive of writing about the Covid-19 pandemic. Work submitted to BBC Upload has the potential to become a part of The British Library’s archive. It could be yours!
