If catastrophe struck, could you resist looking at the wreckage?

Yun Ko-eun’s The Disaster Tourist, translated by Lizzie Buehler, revels in the absurdity of modern life under late capitalism. Yun Ko-eun explores the frustrations of Korean corporate culture while also telling a bigger story about  misogyny and climate change. A blackly comic caper with serious satirical bite which was described by the Irish Times as an “excellent rendering of the extraordinary”, The Disaster Tourist explores how climate change is inextricably bound up with the pressures of global capitalism. Seoul-born Yun Ko-eun has won several literary awards, including the Lee Hyo-seok Literary Award in 2011, and the Kim Yong Ik Novel Prize in 2015 for her short story collection Aloha.
