Beginning Wire Wrapped Jewelry with Christina Bengtson

Learn to make basic wire-wrapped jewelry with instructor Christina Bengtson.
In this introductory class you will learn all the fundamentals to begin making basic wire wrapped jewelry. We will cover the necessary tools, how to choose wire and beads, and the secrets to perfecting clean, professional wraps. In class, you will learn to construct several wire wrapped components and how to connect them for a necklace and/or earrings. Wire wrapping is a versatile technique with endless spin off paths to follow. This is where we begin that journey.
Kits include tools and materials for making wire-wrapped jewelry pieces. Sign up here for a kit beginning January 27th.
You may also provide your own materials and join without a kit.
TOOLS:
- Chain nose pliers
- Round nose pliers
- Side cutters
FOR PRACTICE:
- Approx. 1 foot of 24-gauge half hard round wire ( any metal)
- Assortment of three or four 6mm round beads
FOR NECKLACE:
- Approx. 1 foot of 24 gauge, half hard, round wire ( any metal)
- Approx. 30-inch length + 2-inch length of chain ( to match wire color) with links large enough to accommodate 24-gauge wire.
- One 6mm round bead
- One 4mm round bead
- One 2mm round bead
- One 1 ½-2-inch 24 gauge half hard headpin ( to match wire)
* Optional Any assortment of bead caps ,spacer beads, etc. ( to match chain color)
FOR EARRINGS:
- Two 1 ½ -2-inch 24 gauge half hard headpins ( to match necklace)
- One 4 mm round bead
- One 2 mm round bead
- One chain link or closed jump ring ( to match headpin color)
- One set of ear wires ( to match headpin color)
* Optional Any assortment of bead caps ,spacer beads, etc. ( to match headpin color)
