Ricardo Peixoto’s Brazilian Guitar class will explore how various genres of Brazilian music can be expressed on the guitar. Uniquely Brazilian rhythms, harmonies, and chord voicings are utilized to create distinctive sounds in styles such samba, bossa nova, choro, and baião. This class will analyze how the guitar closely translates and is integrated with the vocabulary of various Brazilian percussion instruments, which allows for vibrant interplay with the rhythm section and vocal accompaniments.
