About the Authors Alex Pheby’s second novel, Playthings, was shortlisted for the Wellcome Book Prize; his third, Lucia, about the tragic life of James Joyce’s daughter, was the joint winner of 2018’s Republic of Consciousness Prize. Mordew is his fourth novel. Born in Essex, he grew up in Worcester, and now teaches at the University of Greenwich in London. CHRISTOPHER BUEHLMAN (he/him) has spent the last thirty years performing on the renaissance festival circuit, playing Professional Insultors, Spanish ambassadors and Medieval Kings, writing shows about bastard monks, minotaurs, and playwright Christopher Marlowe. He is the author of 5 horror novels, including Those Across the River and Between Two Fires. His teleplay The Man in the Suitcase aired on Shudder's reboot of Creepshow in 2019. He and his wife, an aerial silk artist, winter in their Ohio cabin when not touring fairs. His latest novel, The Blacktongue Thief, begins a new adventure trilogy with Tor and is his fantasy debut.
