Under Pressure: The Science of Stress

By TPL Teens

Final exams, family crises, war — there are lots of things to keep us awake at night. And the fight or flight response might have been useful to our ancestors as they fought wild animals, but it's not helpful when dealing with a pandemic. In this interactive presentation, Tanya shares research and stories from her book Under Pressure: The Science of Stress. There are fascinating facts about the origins of stress, wacky historical experiments in the name of research, and—most importantly—practical ways to stress-bust in our everyday lives.
Tanya Lloyd Kyi is the author of more than 30 books for children and young adults. She writes about science, pop-culture, and places where the two overlap. Tanya lives in Vancouver, B.C., where she’s a lecturer for the UBC School of Creative Writing.
