The UBI Center is a think tank whose mission is to make universal basic income the world's most thoroughly researched economic policy. In this session, UBI Center researchers will present some of their recent papers and tools:
  • UBI and child allowances in California
  • The impact of UBI on likely voters
  • Designing and analyzing budget-neutral UBI policies with a real-time web tool
  • UBI and inflation: reviewing theory and evidence
  • A general equilibrium model of UBI in the US
Panelists:
Will Fedder
Will Fedder is a Baltimore-based data analyst working in the health care sector. He holds his bachelor’s in Public Policy from the University of North Carolina. Will’s work with the UBI Center has focused on data visualization and the simulation of basic income policy proposals.
Max Ghenis
Max Ghenis is the founder and president of the UBI Center, a think tank researching universal basic income policies. He also serves on the Policy Simulation Library's leadership council and was previously a data scientist at Google. Max has a bachelor's degree in Operations Research from UC Berkeley and a master's degree in Data, Economics, and Development Policy from MIT.
Joshua Z Miller
Joshua Miller is a Junior in High School interested in monetary economics. He is a research assistant at the UBI Center. He hosts the ThinkCritical Podcast and runs a blog called InTheAggregate.
Nate Golden
"Nate is a public school teacher currently serving a Fulbright scholarship in Taiwan. He has formerly taught math in DC Public Schools and Charlotte Mecklenberg schools. Additionally, he has worked as a policy advisor for State Representative Leslie Herod of Colorado and a researcher for The Colorado League of Charter Schools through the Urban Leaders Fellowship summer program. Nate has a bachelor's degree in economics from Penn State University. He believes in the importance of policy work to alleviate poverty and inequality. As a Research Associate at the UBI Center, Nate has worked on several projects including: the US child allowance simulations, the college debt relief vs. UBI, and many other simulations. He is currently working on a user friendly UBI calculator that he will use demonstrate during his presentation."
Richard W. Evans
Richard W. Evans is Advisory Board Visiting Fellow at Rice University’s Baker Institute for Public Policy, Director of the Open Source Economics Laboratory, President of the Open Research Group, and an Advisor to the UBI Center. Richard is a core maintainer of the OG-USA open source macroeconomic model for dynamic fiscal analysis. He received a B.A. in economics and M.A. in public policy from Brigham Young University and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Texas at Austin. His research focuses on macroeconomics, fiscal policy, and computational modeling.
