Trees & Agroforestry

By Shute Festival

Robin Walter began his work with trees by picking up sticks for a tree surgeon. Since then he has worked as an arboricultural climber in London and woodland offiucer for the Woodland Trust. Since 2010 he has worked independently as a forester and writer and is author of Living with Trees. David Wolfe is a barrister and manager of Wakelyns Farm, which is one of the oldest agroforestry projects in the UK. Wakelyns was established by the late plant pathologist, Prof. Martin Wolfe, to put into action his theories of agrobiodiversity being the answer to achieving sustainable and resilient agriculture. For two decades the farm has been the focus of research into organic crop production and agroforestry. The panellists will discuss their respective experience in this field in conversation with Festival director Sam Knights.
