Join us for an community forum as we discuss TREAT, California’s proposed approach to improve mental health care delivery in the US. Learn about TREAT’s proposal to build an ecosystem to deliver innovative treatments with commitment to responsibility and ethics, while fostering collaboration with existing mental health and addiction providers. This community forum will also discuss the strategic allocation of TREAT Institute’s substantial $5 billion funding, poised to reshape the landscape of mental health care in California. Get informed about the movement to support TREAT’s mission and potentially contribute to the effort to secure the one million signatures necessary for qualification on the November 2024 ballot. Our speakers are Deb Hubers, co-founder of La Vita Compounding Pharmacy; Dr. Jeannie Fontana, CEO of TREAT and as moderator, Lorien Chavez, who serves as the Development and Operations Officer for the Chacruna Institute for Psychedelic Plant Medicines.
Deb Hubers has dedicated her career to measuring and improving healthcare outcomes. Her expertise is leveraging technology to deliver personalized, integrative medicine. Ms. Hubers co-founded La Vita Compounding Pharmacy in 2007. Collaborating with her business partner, physicians and strategic partners, Deb has grown La Vita to be one of the most respected and sought after personalized medicine providers on the west coast. She is also Co-Founder of EpigeneticsRx, a leading provider of precise, personalized, prevention which positively impacts genetic expression. She is currently the COO & LGBTQIA+ Affairs Director.
Jeannie Fontana, MD, PhD, is a healthcare innovator who is passionate about improving the lives of millions through medical research and the development of novel therapeutics. Initially inspired by her mother’s ALS diagnosis, she made significant contributions to ALS research, patient care, and policy. As a founding trustee of the $8.5B California Institute for Regenerative Medicine, Jeannie was instrumental in building the infrastructure for the regenerative medicine space and leading the agency to develop FDA-approved stem cell therapies. Currently, as the CEO of TREAT California, she is focused on a $5B citizen-driven ballot initiative to build the psychedelic medicine ecosystem, fund research, and make these therapies accessible. Her multidisciplinary expertise, including degrees in Internal Medicine, Environmental Toxicology, and Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics, makes her a transformative leader in healthcare.
Lorien Chavez is the Development and Operations Officer for the Chacruna Institute for Psychedelic Plant Medicines. Based in New Mexico, she received her B.A in Psychology and Biology with a focus on Neurology, and is passionate about the research and use of sacred plant medicines as a tool for generational epigenetic healing. She has been motivated to look deeper into how psychedelics may aid in the process of remapping our minds and nervous systems, and is eager to do it in a way that remains respectful and celebratory of the traditions these medicines are rooted in. Passionate about plant based healing, Lorien is also the COO of CommuniTeas – an herbal education platform and production company working to bring holistic healing to communities in accessible formats.
