Financial Benefits During COVID-19
By TPL Programs
Did you know there is a tool for Canadians looking for COVID-19 emergency benefits? Introducing the Financial Relief Navigator (FRN), a bilingual online portal and financial relief information resource that connects Canadians to benefits from governments, financial institutions, utility, telecom and internet providers.
Launched by Prosper Canada and partners, this user-friendly resource identifies COVID-19 benefits and relief opportunities, provides clear descriptions including eligibility requirements, and important details on how new benefits may impact existing benefits people may already be receiving.
Toronto Public Library is currently in partnership with Prosper Canada as a service development and delivery partner as part of the Prosperity Gateways - Cities for Financial Empowerment to examine ways to further integrate financial empowerment into library programming and services.
This 75-minute program will include a panel discussion on income security, financial preparedness during the COVID-19 pandemic, and highlight how Prosper Canada’s Financial Relief Navigator Tool can be used to increase income and reduce expenses during this time.
The event will be moderated by Sarwar Choudhury, a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Chartered Accountant (CA) and Toronto Public Library Board Member.
Prosper Canada is a national charity dedicated to expanding economic opportunity for Canadians living in poverty through program and policy innovation. Prosper Canada works with community, government and business partners across Canada to develop and promote financial policies, programs and resources that transform lives and foster the prosperity of all Canadians.
Our featured panellist will be Jyothi Venkatesh, a staff member from North York Community House (NYCH), a multi-service organization that has been assisting people with accessing benefits during this pandemic.
This event is part of our Live & Online series and is the virtual version of our Personal Finance programming.
Toronto Public Library is committed to accessibility. Please call or email us if you have a request for accommodation. Please let us know as far in advance as possible and we will do our best to meet your request. Phone 416-393-7099 or email [email protected]
