Part of the Rainbow: Owning My Pride

By TPL Innovation

In celebration of Pride Month, join us for this Griffin Centre workshop for teens which will explore the impacts of not being seen as an LGBTQ+ person in daily life. With Pride celebrations and events canceled, we may find ourselves feeling more invisible than ever. We will learn together how to take care of ourselves, build community and reinforce who we are as a member of the LGBTQ+ community even if we can’t show it to others.
Elvia Maria Peñate is an LGBTQ2S+ Youth Outreach Worker with the reachOUT Program at the Griffin Centre. Elvia is a queer Latinx brown woman who knows personally and professionally the negative effects discrimination has on individuals and communities, as well as the importance of strengthening our communities through different forms of education.
Shayen Henry is a gay black male who works with the Griffin Centre's reachOUT team as an LGBTQ+ Youth Outreach Worker. Shayen has a passion for working with LGBTQ2S+ folks from all different walks of life. Shayen is focused on incorporating anti-black racism, an intersectional approach and anti-oppressive practices into their work with the LGBTQ+ community and other communities that experience social injustice.
