Robyn Maynard & Leanne Betasamosake Simpson: Rehearsals for Living

By TPLCulture

Award-winning, best-selling author and scholar Robyn Maynard and writer, musician and academic Leanne Betasamosake Simpson share their new book, Rehearsals for Living , with host Dr. Ciann Wilson and to discuss Black and Indigenous perspectives on our unprecedented here and now.
As the pandemic, climate change and an increase in violence perpetrated by police on Black and Indigenous communities compounded upon our lives, authors Robyn Maynard and Leanne Simpson began to exchange letters. In these letters, both began to explore the commonalities and shared struggles experienced by Black and Indigenous people as the beginning of our shared upheaval. The collection of these letters, Rehearsals for Living , became part debate, part dialogue, part lively and detailed familial correspondence between two razor-sharp writers.
Robyn Maynard & Leanne Betasamosake Simpson join Dr. Ciann L. Wilson to discuss their new collaborative book that encapsulates the long-disavowed histories of slavery and colonization that have brought us to this moment.
