Illustrator In Residence: Developing Your Style and Voice

By TPL Programs

Many artists ask how to decide on a style to define their work. Children's author and illustrator, Sandra Dumais prefers the term "voice" when defining her (or other artists') work. What is it you're saying? How do you send a message or story to people?
It's okay to play and change up our medium and our "style" - an artist always grows and changes and tries new ways of working! With examples of her work and work by other artists, Sandra shows how different styles/voices can be part of a cohesive body of work.
Sandra Dumais is TPL's 2022 Illustrator in Residence. The Joanne Fitzgerald Illustrator in Residence Program is a joint program of IBBY Canada, Toronto Public Library, the Canadian Urban Libraries Council, and the Young Family.
This 1-hour Live & Online will be recorded and available for replay on Crowdcast until October 31.
