This special episode will host Professor Avi Wigderson of the Princeton Institute for Advanced Study (and a scientific advisor to StarkWare).

Prof. Wigderson will describe some highlights along the journey that started with the invention of Interactive Proofs (IP) in the mid 80s, a notion of proof which allows interaction, randomness, and errors. Variations on this theme have continued to produce fundamental, beautiful and surprising results with unexpected implications to this day (most recently, the breakthrough  "MIP*=RE", that as corollary refuted some basic conjectures in mathematics). The talk will be informal and high-level.

About the speaker: Avi Wigderson is a professor of mathematics at the Institute for Advanced Study (IAS) in Princeton. He is a member of the USA’s National Academy of Sciences since 2013. Wigderson is a recipient of the Nevanlinna Prize (1994) for his work on computational complexity, and of the Gödel Prize (2009). In 2018 he was elected as an ACM Fellow in 2018 for “contributions to theoretical computer science and mathematics”
