The Evolution of the Duolingo English Test: Responding to the Needs of a University Sector Under Pressure

By The PIE

The Duolingo English Test has transformed the field of high stakes language testing for international students globally.

A technology led company, Duolingo has proven able to respond rapidly to the needs of the higher education sector. In this webinar we explore how new AI-assisted technologies have enabled the DET to evolve and the ways universities in both the US and the UK are using it to navigate challenging enrollment issues.

In this webinar, we will share updates from Duolingo on new interactive test items they’re launching as well as new Speaking, Writing, Reading and Listening subscores.

We’ll also be asking universities to share examples of how the DET helps achieve enrollment objectives from increasing conversion, diversifying the student body and supporting social justice objectives.

This is a free learning community so get involved! Register today and join in the conversation.

Speakers:
  • Dr Masha Kostromitina, Assessment Science Communications Manager at DET
  • Dr Marco Dinovelli, Associate Vice Chancellor (Enrollment Management), Rutgers University
  • Rob Carthy, Director of International Development at Northumbria University
