The Dark and the Wild: Kirsty Logan & Alice Tarbuck in conversation
By The Portobello Bookshop
At this time of year, our thoughts tend to turn to the stories that lurk in the shadows, the eerie and the unexplainable, magic and witchcraft. Alice Tarbuck practises ‘intersectional, accessible witchcraft’. In her new book A Spell in the Wild, she explores what it means to be a witch today, walking us through everyday magic for extraordinary times. Kirsty Logan is a writer of novels and short stories whose work touches on fairytales, magic, the uncanny and much more besides. Her latest book is Things We Say in the Dark, a collection of dark stories exploring women’s fears, their bodies, desire and violence.
The authors will be in conversation with writer and publisher Katalina Watt, who is currently working on her debut Horror-Fantasy short story collection inspired by folklore of the Philippine islands. This will be a spellbinding evening of stories and discussion about witchcraft, folklore, magic and the contemporary imagination... Join us (virtually) for an evening with the authors broadcast live from The Portobello Bookshop – featuring atmospheric on-location readings shot exclusively for this event. There’ll be a chance to ask questions during the event.
Tickets are available here.
