The Aerial Idea Factory (replay available)
By Shannon McKenna Aerial
You've studied all the choreography on YouTube.
You've learned every sequence in your studio.
You've scrolled through Instagram for Things To Do.
And yet, when you start to choreograph for yourself, you feel completely lost with no idea.
The more you start thinking, the fewer ideas you have, and the more everything seems silly and stupid and derivative and why do you even do this and are you even good at this or really are you good at anything at all and maybe it's all useless and you should give up and go lie on the couch and eat potato chips because now you have a headache.
Sound familiar?
Well, BUCKLE UP BABY, because you're about to take a tour of The Aerial Idea Factory, no thinking required.
ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP
đź“·
This is a 90 minute video workshop featuring aerialist and choreographer Jenn Bruyer (IG: @heelhang ) sharing her carefully constructed methodology for mining aerial gold.
You will receive:
- A discussion of Jenn's philosophy of the creative mindset
- Ground based exercises that can be done anywhere
- Aerial exercises that translate to ALL aerial apparatuses
- A "case study" of Jenn's methodology in practice, using Shannon as a student, including feedback (this will be FASCINATING)
- A comprehensive download of the concepts in the workshop, so you can print out the tools necessary to create and refine your movement style
There are a million ways to "skin a cat," but how do you find the best way? Or, rather, YOUR way?
After this workshop, you'll know.
WHO IS THIS FOR
đź“·
This workshop is both practical and theoretical and can be used in a variety of different ways. It is great if you are:
- A teacher/instructor/coach
- A beginner who needs a break from learning tricks and knows how to work within their level
- A professional looking for new creative tools
- A student who wants to choreograph but gets in their own way because they're a judge-y perfectionist
- Anyone who doesn't have access regular access to aerial equipment but wants to practice creative movement
WHAT YOU NEED
đź“·
This workshop translates to literally any aerial apparatus.
To demonstrate how you can use these principles on anything, Jenn will be using an aerial apparatus and Shannon will be using a simple kitchen chair.
If you are watching in real time, you may not want to use your apparatus, rather, watch Jenn and Shannon in action, take notes, ask questions, then watch the replay later.
If you are watching the replay, be by your aerial apparatus, so you can pause, stop, and rewind some of the exercises to try on your own!
