Erica Geldart, Motus Coordinator & Project Specialist (Atlantic Region), Birds Canada
Erica works with the Motus Wildlife Tracking System at Birds Canada, assisting with the deployment and maintenance of Motus equipment in the Atlantic Canada Region, and the management, analysis and communication of data. Prior to joining Birds Canada, she used Motus as a tool to study the stopover movement ecology of both semipalmated sandpipers and plovers in Atlantic Canada for her undergraduate research. She later studied antipredator responses of common eiders breeding in the Canadian low Arctic for her master’s degree.
Paula Grieef, Resident Naturalist, Wetland Discovery Centre at Oak Hammock Marsh
An accomplished bird expert and certified master bird-bander, Paula has been the Resident Naturalist at the Harry J. Enns Wetland Discovery Centre at Oak Hammock Marsh for 25 years. In addition to this role, she sits on committees for the Manitoba Important Bird Area program, the Bluebird Fund and the Manitoba Ornithological Records committees. Paula also started the Delta Marsh Bird Observatory in 1995 and currently sits on its board of directors.
James Pagé, Species at Risk and Biodiversity Specialist, Canadian Wildlife Federation
James leads the Canadian Wildlife Federation’s initiatives on species at risk and biodiversity conservation. He works on various projects at CWF, including turtle recovery work, rare species surveys, bat recovery and community science. Working with the developers at iNaturalst.org, James has been the lead in the creation and management of iNaturalist Canada.
James Paterson, Research Scientist, Ducks Unlimited Canada
James is a quantitative ecologist and conservation biologist who studies biodiversity at DUC’s Institute for Wetland and Waterfowl Research. He is passionate about conservation, species-at-risk and collaborative science. James’ current research focuses on the biodiversity benefits and associated ecosystem services of wetland conservation.
