Scratch Coding for Kids (9-12)
By TPL Kids
Coding video games or animations can be hard, but Scratch block coding makes it easy, with simple drag and drop commands that work just like advanced coding languages. In this class, we will learn how to use a few of the commands in Scratch in order to create a simple animation and try to model a real-life object using our code.
Using two devices (a cell phone, tablet or computer with a mouse) is recommended for this program. This will allow participants to view instructor and follow along with coding activities.
This live program is suitable for children 9-12 years old. It is recommended that parents or caregivers are present for the duration of the program.
Toronto Public Library is participating in The Hour of Code. This takes place each year during Computer Science Education Week: December 7-13. The programs offered are designed to teach the basics of code and to broaden skill sets in the area of coding.
Toronto Public Library is committed to accessibility. Please call or email us if you have a request for accommodation. Please let us know as far in advance as possible and we will do our best to meet your request. Phone 416-393-7099 or email [email protected]
