Scottish Witchcraft featuring Witchdoctor Utu
By Hex Education Network
Join Witchdoctor Utu for an in-depth exploration of Scottish Witchcraft. Scottish ancestry runs throughout the globe, and like many cultures whose history is wrought with forced emigration and land clearings, the Scots have a unique combination of clinging to certain cultural traditions, dress, music, and celebration that is disconnected from the indigenous magic and witchcraft of the Scottish Isles... or so it would appear.
Scotland's history with witchcraft is complex. At times indeed persecution was prevalent, yet the traditional mysticism -- ranging from veneration of the old gods to folk magic, tribal customs to pagan rituals -- was preserved among the isolated Highlands and Clan traditions. While what many would call witchcraft was cloaked and hidden among many other names in Scottish culture, witchcraft never really ceased to be practiced and flourishes to this day.
As modern witchcraft is celebrated in our current times through a host of initiatory lines, reconstruction and research, in plain sight an entire fabric of culture from the Scottish Isles and Highlands possesses an oft-overlooked and rare form of tribal magic and witchcraft that stands alone among Great Britain, and is accessible to all and any with a desire and passion to connect their Scottish roots to the traditional witchcraft of their ancestral homeland.
