Children’s Festival: Katherine Woodfine – Secrets on the Shore
By Lancaster Litfest
The bestselling Sinclair’s Mysteries series is filled with wonder and charm. The first book, The Clockwork Sparrow, set in an Edwardian department store, is a captivating mystery with page-turning intrigue, dazzling period detail and a wonderfully endearing lead character. It was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize and is described by Katherine Rundell, author of Impossible Creatures, as ‘A wonderful book, with a glorious heroine and a true spirit of adventure’.
The book celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2025 and we are delighted to welcome author Katherine Woodfine for a special celebratory event and to launch a new Sinclair’s Mystery, Secrets on the Shore.
Suitable for ages 8-12.
Katherine Woodfine is a Lancaster-based and hugely knowledgeable champion of children’s books and reading. As well as being a much-loved author, Katherine has worked for Book Trust supporting the Children’s Laureates and is one of the founding members of Down the Rabbithole, a children’s book radio show and podcast. Litfest is proud that Katherine is also this year’s Reader in Residence and one of its Literary Advisers.
