As May draws to a close, RCMS Concert #8 sets the stage for June's official designation as African American Music Appreciation Month. This late-May funk finale serves as the ideal launchpad and kickoff for broader regional celebrations, honoring the deep legacy and ongoing evolution of Black musical traditions like funk, soul, and jazz through an unforgettable, high-energy community dance party.

Purple Funk Metropolis is a seven-piece instrumental powerhouse from Minneapolis, blending funk, soul, jazz, and beyond into a groove-heavy sound built for movement. With soaring horns, dual guitars, and a deep-pocket rhythm section, the band delivers high-energy performances that keep dance floors packed and crowds locked in.
