Tuition discounting has turned into something else. More and more institutions now use web tracking, third-party data and predictive models to estimate what each family can pay and is willing to pay, then set an individual price to match. Other industries call this surveillance pricing. It has quietly become standard practice in college admissions.

Teege Mettille spent more than 20 years in admissions and enrollment management, rising to VP. In this session he lays out where the practice came from, how it works today, and why it puts our profession at risk.

• How tracking and modeling decide what a family is offered

• Who gets hurt, especially first-generation and lower-income students

• The trust problem: what happens when families figure it out

• The regulatory and reputational risk building around these practices
