This session is designed for clinicians supporting patients with obesity, IBS, or other disorders of the brain-gut axis, including GIs, APPs, dietitians, nutritionists, primary care clinicians, and other healthcare providers involved in metabolic or GI care.

Dr. Samuel Muench is a board-certified and fellowship-trained gastroenterologist. He chose to specialize in gastroenterology due to the field’s unique conditions and diseases, as well as the lifelong patient-physician relationships that develop from treating these chronic conditions.

During his medical training, Dr. Muench focused on addressing the social determinants of healthcare access and treatment, working to reduce inequalities in health outcomes among different racial and ethnic groups and within the LGBTQIA+ population. Much of his research has involved improving access to hepatitis C treatment and addressing barriers to colon cancer screening.
